Water Heater Repair
Most water heater calls come down to a few things: no hot water, not enough of it, or water where it should not be. Which one you have tells us most of what we need to know before we arrive.

When to call
Decades of hard water leaves scale in every fixture, valve and heater it passes through, and it does not undo itself.
These are the symptoms that usually prompt the call. Any one of them is worth a conversation, and most of them get cheaper to deal with the earlier they are looked at.
No hot water at all
Hot water running out much faster than it used to
Water pooling around the base of the tank
Rumbling or popping from the tank
Rusty or discolored hot water
Plumbing problems do not improve on their own. What they do is get slowly more expensive while the damage spreads into whatever is around them.
We document what the camera sees so you are not taking our word for the condition of something buried in your yard.
Identify the actual fault
Gas and electric units fail differently. Thermocouple, element, thermostat, gas valve, or the tank itself.
Decide repair or replace honestly
A repairable fault on a young heater is a repair. A leaking tank on a fifteen-year-old unit is not worth repairing and we will tell you so.

Talk about what shortened its life
Hard water is usually the culprit around here, and there are things worth doing about it.
You get the number before any work begins, and it is based on what we actually found rather than a worst-case figure padded for safety.
Age is the most useful single fact about a water heater. Under about eight years, most faults are components and are worth repairing. Past twelve, the tank itself is living on borrowed time and putting money into a failing unit rarely pays off. Between those, it depends on the fault and on how hard the local water has been on it. If you do not know the age, there is usually a date code in the serial number and we can read it for you on the phone.
We would rather carry more equipment than we need on a given day than tell a customer we have to come back with the right tool.
We are based in Yucaipa and work outward across San Bernardino County, Riverside County and the eastern edge of Los Angeles County. If you are outside the usual radius, call and ask. We cover more ground than most shops our size.

Wipes should not go down any drain, whether the packet says flushable or not. They do not break down, and they are behind a large share of the main line blockages we clear.
Know the age of the major components. Water heaters, supply piping and sewer laterals all have expected lifespans, and planning for a replacement is considerably cheaper than reacting to one.
Knowing your own system is worth real money. Where the main shutoff is, where the sewer cleanout is, how old the water heater is, and whether the property is on sewer or septic. Those four facts shorten every future service call you will ever have.
Water heaters benefit from an annual flush in this region more than almost anywhere else, because our water leaves sediment on the bottom of the tank where the heat has to pass through it.
Nights, weekends and holidays are ordinary working hours in this trade and we staff for them.
We are small enough that the owners know the jobs and large enough to send somebody when you need one. That balance is deliberate and it is why we have not tried to grow into something else.
The licensing matters most on jobs that span disciplines, like a sewer lateral replacement that is part plumbing and part excavation.
We answer the phone at two in the morning because the problems that need us most do not happen at noon.

If yours is not here, call and ask. We would rather talk it through than have you guess.
Eight to twelve years is typical, but hard water shortens that. We see heaters here fail earlier than the same unit would elsewhere.
No. If the tank itself is leaking, the unit needs replacing. Leaks at fittings or valves are a different matter and are often repairable.
Sediment on the bottom of the tank. The burner is heating through a layer of scale, which wastes energy and stresses the tank.
Yes, particularly with our water. It removes sediment before it becomes a thick insulating layer at the bottom of the tank.
Regularly. We coordinate around construction schedules, tenant access and operating hours as a matter of course.
Know where your main water shutoff is and whether it turns. Clear access to the work area. If you smell gas, leave the building and call from outside.
Yes. We hold plumbing, sanitation and general engineering contractor licensing, which lets one shop handle work that runs from inside the house out to the septic field.
For simple, well-defined jobs sometimes. For anything that needs diagnosis, a number quoted blind is a guess, and we would rather look first and give you a real figure.
Most residential plumbing failures give warning before they become emergencies. Drains slow before they stop. Water heaters make noise before they leak. Pressure drifts before a pipe fails. The customers who spend the least on plumbing over the years are the ones who call when they notice something odd rather than when something has clearly broken.
If this has happened before, telling us what was done last time saves repeating work that did not fix it.
Forty-four years of work in one region builds a footprint that covers a lot of towns, and the trucks are on the road across it every day.
Slow and stopped drains, cabled and cleared.
Copper supply repipes.
Replacing a tank water heater.
High-pressure scouring of greased and rooted lines.
Ground-up residential plumbing.
Hard-water treatment for Inland Empire supply.
Tell us what it is doing and we will tell you what it takes to fix it. Plain language, no sales pitch, and the number before we start.
